Correction & Validation

Correction / Validation is a process of puting your databse through a software approved by
Canada Post that corrects the addersses to the correct format.

If you use Incentive Lettermail™, Addressed Admail™, or Publications Mail™, your mail
campaigns must meet the requirements of Canada Post's Address Accuracy Program if the
volume is over 5000 pieces. An acceptance rate of 95% must be achieved, or there is an
additional charge on the mailing.

Unless your data is captured using software that processes the address against SERP, or
that you acquire a mailing list that has been batch processed against the SERP database,
then it is virtually certain that your address data will not be 100% complete, accurate or in the
recommended format of Canada Posl.

Now that's not to say that the addresses in your list are not good enough to reach the
intended address, but simply reaching your required destination should not be your only
consideration. .For example:

if incorrectly (or not) postcoded, then this can increase postage costs on potentially
machineable mailing campaigns.
if incorrectly (or not) postcoded, then this may mean that your mailing list does not fall within
the qualifying criteria for Canada Post and increase your postage costs significantly.
if incorrectly addressed, then this may make your mail piece undeliverable, wasting both
marketing and postage costs.
if incorrectly addressed, then this may increase the delivery time of your mail piece,
potentially missing key dates for time specific marketing campaigns.
if incorrectly addressed, can adversely affect your organisation's reputation and brand.
